Centenary of Rail Coffs Habour

On 30 August 1915, the section of rail between Coffs Harbour and Glenreagh NSW was opened and, to celebrate the anniversary, Coffs Harbour held the ‘Centenary of Rail’ as part of the ‘Smoke on the Water Transport Festival’ held from Friday 28th to Sunday 30th of August.

To celebrate the event, a variety of activities were provided, including displays of vintage, veteran and classic cars; Historic aeroplane fly-overs (including an old DC3 from Victoria); steam train rides for the paying public; and displays by the Orara Vintage Machinery Museum and the Maitland Steam & Antique Machinery Association.
